Getting Ready for God
Worship and sacraments express the heart of who we are as God’s people.
The Book of Order states that each church needs to make worship and the sacraments accessible to all styles of expressions and to all ages of people. The Education Committee sponsors a “Getting Ready for God” class each fall to incorporate children in worship and prepare them to receive the Lord’s Supper.
Our Pastors and select teachers use interactive tools to tell the story of God’s people to 2nd and 3rd grade students. Parents are encouraged to participate in the 3-week class, as we provide tools and resources on how to include their children in a communion service and how to incorporate their baptism into every day life.
We conclude the 3-week course by inviting the children and their families to worship to receive a special Bible and participate in the children's first communion.
